Mark Stokes Crime Prevention Book Launched

The book "Designing Out Crime: A Handbook for Practitioners, Managers and the Community" by Mark Stokes has been launched and is set to be released on January 25, 2026. This practical handbook utilises criminological research to produce comprehensive solutions for practitioners in the field of crime prevention. It covers a wide range of applications and includes a Good Practice section with examples of successful outcomes. The book is aimed at crime prevention practitioners, managers, and academics, particularly in environmental criminology, and provides solutions for those seeking sustainable, long-term benefits in preventing crime, fear of crime, and anti-social behaviour within the built environment.

Mark has been an IPA member for many years and a valued member of our writers' group. This book has been a labour of love for Mark and after many years he has finally achieved his goal and been able to see his book in print. As a retired police inspector and now a Doctor of Criminology, he has been able to share his expertise with others in a remarkable book that will no doubt be used by universities and police establishments across the world. Well done Mark! A fabulous achievement!

The book is published by Palgrave Macmillan and available at a variety of outlets and online bookstores.
